The sun showered sheets of exotic, vibrant light
To open the curtains of energy on a brand new day,
This intense mosaic of color inexorably trapped
In the prosaic square of glass
That is my rearview mirror.
As I speed away from the anniversary
Of the grevious untimely demise of love's illusion.
The pain of that shocking unprecedented discovery
Undiminished by the attentions of a great blue heron,
Corrupted and rendered inordinately fascinated by human contact,
Waiting with infinite immobilized patience
Until ever so slowly, regretfully, under threat eventually withdrawing
Shattering a real life, still life image
A pure, natural component of paradise tainted and commercialized,
Into which I had been inadvertently plunged.
Which nonetheless provided a modicum of consolation, solitude and peace.
